MP Bhandari, injured in gas explosion, to be sent India for treatment
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Chandra Bhadnari who sustained injures after explosion of a cooking gas cylinder at his home last night is being treated at intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital.
Leader Bhandari and his 86-year-old mother Harikala Bhandari were injured in the incident that took place at the Buddhanagar-based home on Wednesday night.
Bhandari’s mother passed away at 10:57 am on Thursday morning. Preparations are underway to take Chandra Bhandari to Mumbai, India for further treatment.
“Since specialised medical treatment does not seem plausible in Nepal, we request the injured to be admitted to a facility with better medical facilities abroad,” reads a statement issued by Kirtipur Hospital.
The hospital informed that Bhandari has sustained burn injuries on 25 percent of his body while his mother has sustained burn injuries on 70 percent of her body.
The LP gas cylinder exploded when the family was sleeping, said Bhusal.
Health minister Padam Giri also met Bhandari and assured him that the government would bear the entire cost of treatment.
The injured will be flown to Mumbai via a chartered flight of Shree Airlines.
Leader Bhandari was elected the HoR member from Gulmi constituency-1 in the last November 20 general election.
