Mukul Dhakal Alleges Unfair Suspension by RSP

Mukul Dhakal, the suspended General Secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has raised serious allegations following his abrupt suspension from key party roles. Dhakal claims he was suspended without being afforded an opportunity to clarify himself, despite submitting an explanation.

The decision came during a central committee meeting on Wednesday, where Dhakal was suspended from his duties as General Secretary and Spokesperson for a period of seven days. Expressing dismay, Dhakal asserted that the suspension process lacked adherence to established procedures and democratic norms. He alleged that his submitted explanation was disregarded, accusing the party leadership of unfairly creating a narrative that he had not responded.

“They did not allow my explanation to be registered and created a narrative that I did not respond,” Dhakal stated. “Today is the last day for the explanation, and I submitted it on Wednesday, but they refused to register it despite my requests. How can one provide an explanation if not allowed to register it?”

Underlining a violation of the Political Parties Act, which mandates due process before punitive actions, Dhakal maintained that his suspension contradicts legal frameworks. He also highlighted procedural irregularities, pointing out that the authority to suspend him should have been delegated by the Chairman rather than the Vice Chairman.

Despite these procedural concerns, Dhakal emphasized that he views the suspension primarily as a political move, questioning its motives and describing it as malicious and undemocratic.
