Myanmar Earthquake Death Toll Surpasses 3,000

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Myanmar has risen above 3,000, the ruling junta announced on Thursday. A statement from a junta spokesperson confirmed 3,085 deaths, with 341 people still missing and 4,715 injured, six days after the 7.7-magnitude quake struck.
Rescue and aid workers from 17 countries have arrived to assist in relief efforts, bringing nearly 1,000 tonnes of supplies and essential materials. Search and rescue operations remain ongoing as authorities work to locate missing individuals and provide aid to survivors.
“We have been continuing search and rescue work, and we would like to express special gratitude for the hard work of the international community and medical teams,” junta spokesperson Zaw Min Tun said.
