NA Lieutenant General to Lead Security Operations for Qatari Emir’s Visit
The security system has been tightened in preparation for the visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to Nepal. He is arriving today for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Ram Chandra Paudel.
In preparation for his visit, various security teams from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and the National Investigation Department have been deployed. These efforts are being coordinated by a Lieutenant General from the Nepali Army. These arrangements have been made to ensure the security of the visiting dignitary from his arrival to his departure.
According to the Nepali Army, security protocols have been implemented based on the requirements of various programs and ceremonies scheduled during the Emir’s visit. In preparation, several meetings have been held, and responsibilities have been clearly defined. The security measures are in accordance with the Special Person Peace and Security Management Procedure, 2077, issued by the government, as stated by Gaurav Kumar KC, the spokesperson for the Nepali Army.
Jagannath Niraula, the General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, mentioned that there would be a temporary suspension of all other flights for 15 minutes during the arrival and departure of the Emir to facilitate his movement.
The visit is expected to strengthen the bilateral relations between Nepal and Qatar. This marks the first high-level visit from the Middle East to Nepal. The visit is particularly significant as Qatar is a key destination for Nepali labor migrants, making it an important partner in West Asia.
