National Assembly Members Urge Timely Completion of Infrastructure Projects

Members of Nepal’s National Assembly have stressed the need for infrastructure projects to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, calling for an end to contractor negligence. During today’s Upper House meeting, NA member Sumitra BC highlighted that rushed work at the end of the fiscal year often compromises quality, noting that the Mid-Hill Highway project, initiated a decade ago, remains incomplete and should be prioritized.

Lawmaker Renu Chand urged the government to provide immediate relief to victims of natural disasters, while Yubraj Sharma emphasized the importance of pursuing sustainable development goals. Uday Bahadur Bohara called for constitutional amendments with the consensus of smaller parties, and Bamdev Gautam warned of the potential risks from glacier lake collapses, urging timely government action.

Other lawmakers, including Bhuwan Bahadur Sunuwar and Padam Bahadur Pariyar, urged the government to address Dalit issues, while Nar Bahadur Bista emphasized the need to ensure the timely conduct of the 10th National Sports Tournament in Karnali Province this December. Shardadevi Bhatt called for a strict end to the harmful practice of Chhaupadi, which has led to untimely deaths of women forced to live in huts during menstruation.
