National Assembly Unanimously Passes TRC Act (Third Amendment) Bill, 2081
The National Assembly has unanimously passed the Bill related to transitional justice without any revisions. During today’s meeting, the proposal presented by Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, was endorsed along with the message from the House of Representatives (HoR) seeking the passage of the ‘Bill related to Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (Third Amendment), 2081’.
The HoR had already approved the TRC Bill on August 14, 2024. In the National Assembly meeting, Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal announced that no amendments were proposed during the clause-wise discussion, indicating unanimous support across all represented political parties.
Following the National Assembly’s approval, the Bill has been returned to the House of Representatives. After certification by HoR Speaker Devraj Ghimire, the Bill will be sent to the President for authentication. Once authenticated, the Bill will officially become an Act and come into force.
