National Figures Call for Dialogue Amid Monarchist Movement

An interactive gathering of prominent individuals from various fields has urged the government to engage in dialogue with the ongoing monarchist movement to prevent it from spiraling out of control. The appeal, issued to the government, protesting factions, national and international human rights organizations, and other stakeholders, highlights concern over the current system and governance while expressing solidarity with peaceful calls for reform.

The gathering called on the protesting groups to ensure their demonstrations remain non-violent and peaceful. It also urged the government to refrain from using force, making retaliatory remarks, or taking suppressive actions against peaceful voices. Warning of potential unrest, the gathering held the government responsible for any escalation should dialogue not be initiated in time.

The appeal was endorsed by several well-known figures, including industrialists Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Bhawani Rana, Kush Kumar Joshi, Binod Bahadur Shrestha, Anil Joshi, Rajaraj Giri, and Deepak Giri. Renowned actors Manisha Koirala and Deepak Raj Giri, along with media professionals Yubaraj Ghimire,Jibram Bhandari, Shyam Kandel, Tikaram Yatri, Direklal Shrestha, and Ashish Sherchan, were also present.

Other notable participants included Kishor Pradhan, Kishor Thapa, Bhim Udas, Uttam Krishna Shrestha, Surendrbir Malakar, Nirmalraj Paudel, Madhusudan Thapa, Dhruba Narayan Shrestha, Durga Bahadur Thapa, Jayson Vaidya, Yagyaraj Adhikari, Dinesh Shrestha, Bikram Pandey, Dr. Gopal Tiwari, Swagat Nepal, and A.G. Sherpa.

Former Inspector General of Police Sarbendra Khanal, who previously contested elections from UML, was also among the attendees.

Emphasizing the importance of dialogue and democratic values, the gathering called for impartial monitoring of the situation by national and international human rights organizations. It also expressed concerns over growing restrictions on freedom of expression, warning that such actions would only aggravate the situation further.
