National Information Commission Submits Annual Report to PM Oli
The National Information Commission (NIC) presented its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/81 to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today. Chief Information Commissioner Mahendra Man Gurung handed over the report during a ceremony held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.
The report, summarizing NIC’s achievements and activities over the past year, will be tabled in the federal parliament through the Prime Minister.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli also released a compilation titled Collection of Important Orders, documenting key decisions made by the NIC during the five-year term of its current office bearers. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the government and the NIC in ensuring access to information for relevant stakeholders. He also emphasized maintaining order while pursuing democratic principles.
Chief Commissioner Gurung highlighted NIC’s achievements during his term, revealing that 5,182 appeals were received in the past five years, with an impressive 95% resolution rate.
The tenures of Gurung and Information Commissioners Kamala Oli Thapa and Ratna Prasad Mainali are set to conclude on December 8. The event marked a reflective moment on their contributions to advancing transparency and accountability in governance.
