Nationwide Monsoon Influence Brings Cloudy Weather and Rainfall Across Nepal
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that the monsoon wind is exerting nationwide influence, with the monsoon low-pressure line positioned northward from its usual place. This has resulted in generally cloudy weather across the country and forecasts of rainfall in multiple provinces.
Currently, light to moderate rainfall is occurring in various parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. The Department predicts that this afternoon will see generally cloudy skies nationwide, with light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, likely in many areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in a few places in Madhes province.
Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in a few locations within Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Department has specifically warned of torrential rain in one or two places in Koshi, Sudurpaschim, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces and has urged all concerned to remain vigilant.
Tonight, the weather is forecasted to be partly to generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some locations in the other provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in most parts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces over the next 24 hours. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in a few areas within these provinces. Due to the risk of landslides and floods in Sudurpaschim province, residents have been urged to exercise caution.
In the last 24 hours, the Meteorological Forecasting Division recorded 73 mm of rainfall in Kathmandu. Other areas with significant rainfall include Dharan with 104 mm, Okhaldhunga with 85 mm, Biratnagar with 80 mm, Janakpur with 74 mm, Jiri with 46 mm, Pokhara with 30 mm, Bhairahawa with 26 mm, and both Pokhara and Simara with 21 mm.
