Nepal and Thailand have signed eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. The agreements, two at the government level and six involving non-governmental entities, were finalized during Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to Thailand.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Oli and his Thai counterpart, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, held a bilateral meeting, exchanging views on political and economic relations, trade, investment, and collaboration in aviation, tourism, culture, and development. Discussions also touched upon regional and multisectoral issues of mutual interest.

At the government level, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba signed an MoU with Thailand’s Minister for Culture, Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, to promote cultural cooperation. Another MoU on tourism cooperation was signed between Foreign Minister Deuba and Thai Minister for Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thienthong.

Among the six non-governmental agreements, key collaborations include partnerships between Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh and Mahidol University, Janata Agro and Forestry Nepal and Kasetsart University, as well as the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Thailand’s Board of Trade. Additional MoUs were signed between Kathmandu University and Siam University, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries and the Federation of Thai Industries, and the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Council of Thailand.

These agreements are expected to strengthen cooperation in education, trade, industry, agriculture, and tourism, further enhancing Nepal-Thailand relations.
