Nepal and Thailand Sign MoUs on Tourism, Culture, and Trade

Nepal and Thailand have signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in tourism, culture, and trade. The agreements were signed in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Thai counterpart Paetongtran Shinawatra during PM Oli’s official visit to Thailand.

Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba signed the MoUs on behalf of Nepal, while Thai Culture Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol and Tourism and Sports Minister Sorawong Thienthong signed the respective agreements for Thailand.

In addition to government-level agreements, business and industry organizations from both nations also formalized partnerships. The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) signed MoUs with the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, as well as the Trade Board of Thailand, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade, enhance economic cooperation, and create a structured framework for investment.

FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Thai Chamber of Commerce Chairman Sanan Angubolkul signed the MoU in the presence of both Prime Ministers. The agreement is expected to boost trade collaboration and economic ties between the two countries.

Similarly, the Confederation of Nepalese Industries and the Federation of Thai Industries, as well as the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Council of Thailand, have signed separate MoUs to promote business and tourism cooperation. Additionally, Kathmandu University and Siam University have also formalized an academic collaboration agreement.

Prime Minister Oli arrived in Bangkok on April 1 to lead the Nepali delegation at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit and to undertake an official visit at the invitation of the Thai government.
