Nepal Army marked its 260th Foundation Day on Saturday
Nepal Army (NA) on Saturday observed the Maha Shivaratri and Army Day-2079 BS at the Army Pavilion, Tudikhel.
Every year since 1991., the Nepal Army is observing the ‘Army Day’ on the auspicious occasion of ‘Maha Shivaratri’.
The function was attended by the Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker of the National Assembly, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ministers, heads of various constitutional bodies, Secretaries of the Government of Nepal, heads of other security agencies, special officials of the Government of Nepal, Ambassadors, former Chiefs of Army Staff, former Chiefs of Staff of the Indian Army, Military personnel from different countries and media persons were present.
President Bhandari, who is also the Supreme Commander of the national army, laid a wreath on the army monument and received a guard of honour accorded by the army troupe.
On the occasion, President Bhandari released ‘Sipahi-2079’, an annual publication and ‘Glorious Past of Nepali Army’, a book, published by the Nepali Army, Directorate of Public Relations and Information. President Bhandari also presented gifts to Indian Army and British Army bands.
Similarly, the army displayed various skills and weapons. Mass PT as well as taek-won-do and khukuri drill was also presented on the occasion. Similarly, some shows displaying the military skills were presented on the occasion.
At the ceremony,Nepal representative of World Books of Records handed over the certificate of the record set by the Army to COAS Prabhuram Sharma.
Nepal representative of the organization, Sagar Katuwal, handed over the certificate of setting a world record for playing 555 madals at a single time on February 16.
In the second phase of the ceremony, the Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma presented ‘CoAS Appreciation Badge’ and ‘CoAS Commendation Medals ” to local and foreign dignitaries and organizations who have provided support to the Nepali Army making excellent contributions in their respective fields.
At the outset of the program, CoAS Sharma handed prizes and insignias to various other battalions for their best performance.
