Nepal Ausadhi Limited Secures GMP Certification, Paving Way for Global Market

Nepal Ausadhi Limited has been awarded the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification, aligning with World Health Organization (WHO) standards for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

According to General Manager Kailash Kumar Paneru, the Department of Drug Administration granted the certification today, marking a significant milestone for the state-owned enterprise, 50 years after its establishment.

Founded in 2029 BS under the Company Act of 2021 BS, Nepal Ausadhi Limited had to halt production in 2064-65 BS due to the introduction of GMP standards. However, it resumed operations in 2074 BS, ensuring compliance with WHO guidelines.

With this certification, the company is now eligible to export its products and participate in global pharmaceutical bids. Currently, Nepal Ausadhi Limited manufactures 14 types of medicines, including oral rehydration salts, hemoglobin fluids (Parts 1 and 2), and various tablets.

The company plans to expand its production to include medications for cholesterol, diabetes, and hypertension. If adequate government budget allocation is provided, Nepal Ausadhi Limited has the capacity to manufacture up to 98 types of medicines.

Additionally, it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kathmandu Metropolitan City to collaborate on producing medications for chronic diseases, further strengthening its role in Nepal’s healthcare sector.
