Nepal Clinches T20 Series Win Against the U.S. in Thrilling Super Over Victory

Nepal secured a thrilling victory over the United States in a super over in the second T20 match of their bilateral series, held at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas. With this win, Nepal has claimed the series 2-0 ahead of the final match.

Both teams ended their 20 overs tied at 170 runs each, forcing the match into a super over. Nepal’s Sompal Kami delivered an outstanding performance, defending 7 runs in the final over to push the game into a super over. Kami then restricted the U.S. to just 2 runs in the eliminator, taking 2 consecutive wickets. Captain Rohit Paudel’s 3 runs in the super over secured a historic series win for Nepal on U.S. soil.

Earlier in the game, Nepal posted 170/6 after opting to bat first. Kushal Bhurtel led the charge with an unbeaten 92 off 54 balls, earning him the man-of-the-match award. Opener Anil Shah contributed 25 runs, while Gulshan Jha and Rohit Paudel chipped in with 19 and 18 runs respectively.

In the U.S. innings, Aaron Jones top-scored with 62 runs, bringing his team close to victory before being dismissed on the penultimate ball while attempting a match-winning shot. Saiteja Mukkamalla added 47 runs to the U.S. total. Despite their efforts, the U.S. fell short in the super over.

Nepal’s Karan KC took 3 wickets, while Sompal Kami, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Sagar Dhakal shared the remaining wickets. The U.S. bowlers, led by Jasdeep Singh and Nosthush Kenjige with 2 wickets each, had earlier worked hard to contain Nepal.

Nepal had won the first match of the series by 17 runs, posting 164 in that game. The third and final match of the series is scheduled for October 21. Afterward, Nepal will join Scotland in a triangular series under the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
