Nepal-India Parliamentary Delegations Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations
A high-profile parliamentary delegation from Nepal, led by Rajkishore Yadav, Chairman of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, engaged in discussions today with their Indian counterparts led by PP Chaudhary, Chairman of the Standing Committee on External Affairs of India. The meeting, held in New Delhi, focused on various dimensions of the enduring Nepal-India relations and explored avenues to deepen people-to-people contacts between the two nations, as reported by the Indian Embassy.
The delegation from Nepal, which arrived in India’s capital on Tuesday, had the privilege of meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Omvir Lakota on Wednesday. Under the leadership of Chairman Rajkishore Yadav, the delegation, consisting of Parliamentarians Sunita Baral, Chhiring Bahadur Lhamu Lama Tamang, Yakaman Thaplia, Yogesh Gauchan, Hari Upreti, Shishir Khanal, and Gangaram Chaudhary, visited the Lok Sabha building to discuss various issues with Speaker Omvir Lakota.
The Lok Sabha Speaker warmly welcomed the Nepali delegation, expressing appreciation for their visit to the Lok Sabha building. The discussions, facilitated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, covered a range of topics aimed at fostering closer ties between the two nations.
The Nepali delegation’s visit to India, extending from January 30th to February 6th, was initiated at the invitation of the International Committee of the Indian Parliament. The Chief of Protocol of the Indian Parliament received the Nepali parliamentarians at the airport on Tuesday, marking the commencement of their official visit.
In preparation for the week-long stay in India, the Nepali Embassy provided valuable suggestions to the parliamentary team on effective communication and collaboration with their Indian counterparts. The visit holds significance in the context of historical ties and shared interests between Nepal and India, and it is anticipated that the discussions will contribute to further strengthening the multifaceted relations between the two nations.
