Nepal-India Trade Fair and Tourism Festival Begins in Dehradun

The Indo-Nepal International Trade Fair and Tourism Festival 2025 commenced in Dehradun, India, with the aim of promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between Nepal and India. The festival, jointly organized by the Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Uttarakhand Pradesh government, will run for seven days.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the event, highlighting its role in strengthening the deep-rooted ties between the two neighboring countries. He expressed optimism that the festival would enhance cultural and emotional connections while boosting economic cooperation. Chief Minister Dhami also announced an extension of the time limit for movement across the Banbasa border bridge from four to seven hours daily, pledging further expansion in the future to facilitate cross-border trade.

The fair features 200 exhibition stalls, with 50 Nepali and 150 Indian entrepreneurs showcasing their products. The event aims to provide a platform for businesses from both countries to explore new markets and strengthen economic relations.

Former Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Rajendra Singh Rawal, described the festival as a foundation for deeper economic ties between Nepal and India. Similarly, Pitambar Joshi, President of the Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed hope that the festival would boost trade and tourism, particularly in Dehradun, which has a significant Nepali-speaking population. He emphasized the potential for Nepal’s agricultural products to find a strong market in the region while attracting more Indian tourists to Nepal.

The festival serves as a testament to the shared cultural heritage and economic partnership between Nepal and India, fostering greater collaboration for mutual growth.
