Nepal Police expedition team climbs Mt Lobuche to honor Interpol’s centenary
Senior Sub Inspector Purushottam Nepali and his expedition team have successfully completed their ascent of Mount Lobuche. Nepali is a valued member of a larger expedition team that is currently en route to climb Mount Everest in honor of the Interpol’s centenary. As part of the mission, the team aims to plant the national flag of Nepal as well as flags representing the Nepal Police and Interpol on the world’s highest peak.
Notably, Nepal became the 100th member of the Interpol, an international criminal police organization established in 1923. Mount Lobuche, with a summit elevation of 6,119 meters, is situated in the Solukhumbu district.
At a farewell program on April 13, Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar presented Nepali with the national flag of Nepal and the flags of the Nepal Police and Interpol, along with the necessary mountaineering equipment. The expedition team’s efforts reflect their commitment to honoring the Interpol’s historic centenary while showcasing Nepal’s strength and resilience in the face of challenging conditions.
