Nepal secures 68-run victory over Qatar with Lamichhane’s stellar performance

Nepal clinched a dominating 68-run victory over Qatar in the ongoing ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Kathmandu, , thanks to the stellar performance of the Sandeep Lamichhane.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Nepal set a target of 158 runs but lost all their wickets in 40.3 overs. Lamichhane was the top scorer for Nepal, making 42 runs, followed by Rohit Paudel, who scored 27 runs.

Qatar’s chase started on a rough note as they lost their first wicket at just 14 runs. From there on, it was all downhill for the Qatari batsmen. They were bundled out for a meager 89 runs, well short of the target set by Nepal. For Nepal, Lamichhane was the standout bowler, taking five wickets, while Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajwanshi picked up three and two wickets respectively.

Zaheer Ibrahim and Quran Shehzad were the only two Qatari batsmen who managed to reach double digits, scoring 15 runs each. Lamichhane’s brilliant performance with the ball earned him the Player of the Match award.

With this victory, Nepal secured a place in the semi-finals by finishing at the top of Group A with seven points. They won three out of their four league stage matches and got one point due to a match being interrupted by rain.

Oman also reached the semi-finals from Group A after winning three out of their four matches and losing to Nepal. Meanwhile, UAE secured a spot in the semi-finals from Group B, and Kuwait and Hong Kong are vying for the remaining spot.
