Nepal Stock Exchange Continues Downward Trend, Nepse Index Drops 25.63 Points
Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) experienced its third consecutive session of losses on Sunday, with the Nepse index shedding 25.63 points and closing at 2,130.18 points. Despite an optimistic start at 2,156.32, the market failed to sustain momentum, ending the day 1.18% lower.
A total of 177 companies witnessed a decline in share prices, contrasting with 64 companies that saw advances, while six remained unchanged. Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd emerged as the top performer in terms of turnover, with shares worth Rs 567.91 million traded. Following closely were Himal Dolkaha Hydropower Company Ltd and Api Power Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 229.17 million and Rs 208.23 million, respectively.
Among the trading groups, only the Hydropower and Others groups managed to avoid losses. The Development Bank sub-index experienced the most significant decline, dropping by 2.61%, followed by Finance and Banking sub-indices with losses of 2.55% and 2.42%, respectively.
The trading activity on the bourse remained active, with shares worth Rs 7.67 billion traded through 166,983 transactions. The total market capitalization reached Rs 3.34 trillion, reflecting the challenges faced by the market in recent sessions. Investors are closely monitoring the evolving market dynamics for potential shifts in the coming days.
