Nepal Suffers Heavy Defeat Against Uzbekistan in AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers
Nepal faced a tough defeat in its AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifier match against Uzbekistan on Wednesday, losing 6-0. The match took place in New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei, where Uzbekistan dominated, scoring in the 24th, 27th, and 29th minutes of the first half, followed by goals in the 68th, 88th, and 90th minutes.
This marks Nepal’s second defeat in the Group B stage of the tournament. In their first match, Nepal lost to Cambodia 1-4, but bounced back in their second game with a 3-1 victory against Chinese Taipei. Uzbekistan’s victory is their second consecutive win, bringing their point tally to six, while Nepal has three points.
Nepal will play its final group-stage match against Bahrain on September 27. Group B consists of Nepal, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, and Cambodia. A total of 45 countries are competing in the qualifiers, with the winners of each group and the five best runner-up teams advancing to the U-20 Asian Cup, set to take place in 2025.
