Nepal Supplies 40 Toyota Hiace Vehicles for India’s G20 Summit

In a unique collaboration between Nepal and India, a fleet of 40 Toyota Hiace multipurpose vehicles has been transported from Nepal to India to serve officials and guests during the upcoming G20 Summit.

KTC India, a leading car rental company in India, secured the rental of these vehicles from various travel agencies and rental companies in Kathmandu. In an enthusiastic social media post, KTC India proudly announced, “For the first time, vehicles imported from Nepal by KTC India for the G20 summit.”

India is gearing up to host the prestigious G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, 2023. The G20, an intergovernmental forum consisting of 19 countries and the European Union, will see participation from leaders of major nations such as India, China, the United States, Japan, and the EU, among others.

This marks a notable shift as, during previous international summits hosted by Nepal, luxury vehicles were imported from India. For instance, during the 18th SAARC Summit in Kathmandu in 2014, Nepal had imported luxury vehicles from India. However, this time, India has opted to rent vehicles from Nepal for the G20 Summit, showcasing an unprecedented cross-border collaboration.

It is worth mentioning that when Nepal hosted the BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu in 2018, the Government of Qatar generously provided nine Mercedes-Benz sedans to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, obviating the need to import vehicles from India. This recent development exemplifies the evolving dynamics of regional cooperation and resource sharing in South Asia.
