Nepali Army Engages in Joint Military Exercise with US Army

In a demonstration of the longstanding partnership between the Nepali Army and the United States Army, the 40th edition of the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) Balance Nail is currently underway in the picturesque Kathmandu Valley. Running from Bhadra 24th to Asoj 12th in the Nepali calendar, equivalent to September 10-29, 2023, this joint military exercise promises to strengthen ties and enhance mutual capabilities.

A total of 42 military personnel, comprising 30 Nepali Army soldiers and 12 members of the United States Army, are actively participating in this engagement. The primary focus of this exercise is to facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge in critical areas such as disaster management, search and rescue operations, humanitarian aid missions, and various other subjects related to military cooperation.

The Nepali Army has been diligently involved in joint training and exercises with numerous military organizations from around the world, including the United States, Britain, India, China, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Israel, among others. These collaborative efforts have covered diverse aspects, including search and rescue missions, disaster management, counter-terrorism strategies, mountain climbing, and roles within the United Nations peacekeeping forces.

To facilitate their participation in this year’s JCET Balance Nail, the United States Army contingent is scheduled to arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport on the 21st of Bhadra (September 7, 2023), bringing with them essential equipment and resources. Their departure is slated for the 22nd of Bhadra (September 8, 2023).

In parallel, a dedicated 10-member team from the Nepalese Army has embarked on a challenging mission to the United Kingdom. Under the leadership of LiTUTENANT cOLONEL Bivek Bikram Shah, they are participating in the prestigious competitive exercise known as Cambrian Patrol. This team embarked on their journey from Nepal on the 20th of Bhadra (September 6, 2023), symbolizing Nepal’s commitment to international military collaboration.

The ongoing JCET Balance Nail exercise and the participation of the Nepalese Army in the Cambrian Patrol in the UK not only reinforce Nepal’s dedication to enhancing military capabilities but also emphasize the nation’s engagement in global efforts to foster peace, security, and disaster response.

As this cooperative endeavor continues to unfold, it is expected that the bonds of friendship and military collaboration between Nepal and the United States will grow even stronger, ensuring a safer and more secure future for both nations and the broader international community.
