Nepali Chef Narayan Shrestha Wins Great British Bake Off: The Professionals 2024
Narayan Shrestha, a talented pastry chef from Dhading, Nepal, has made a significant mark in the culinary world by winning the prestigious title of Great British Bake Off: The Professionals 2024. His remarkable achievement not only expands his international presence but also brings pride to his home country.
Shrestha, alongside his teammate Tanuj Sharma from India, represented Intercontinental London – The O2 in the competition. The duo triumphed over 12 finalist teams with their exceptional creativity and skill, making history as the first South Asian team to win the coveted title.
Chef Narayan’s journey began in Maidi, Dhading, where he completed his education before embarking on an international career that took him from the UAE to Qatar and finally to the UK. His passion for culinary arts was sparked after school, when he began working as an assistant chef at the DoubleTree Hotel in Dubai in 2014. After spending a year in the UAE, he moved to Doha to work at the Four Seasons Hotel before arriving in the UK in 2023.
Known for his expertise in chocolate, Chef Narayan views this win as a pinnacle moment in his career, and a source of immense pride for himself and for Nepal.
