Nepali Congress Gives Go-Ahead for Government’s Parliament Pitch
The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced its decision to permit the government to present the policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year. This announcement comes ahead of the scheduled presentation by President Ram Chandra Poudel in the Federal Parliament today.
During the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday morning, NC lawmaker Ramhari Khatiwada confirmed the party’s stance. He stated that after extensive deliberation, it was decided to allow President Poudel to present the policies and programs without interference.
However, Khatiwada emphasized that the focus would strictly remain on the outlined agenda without deviation into other matters. This decision has elicited mixed reactions among parliamentarians, with senior leaders supporting an uninterrupted presentation while younger leaders advocate for obstruction until a parliamentary committee investigates the Home Minister’s involvement in a cooperative fraud case.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda urged NC leaders earlier today not to impede the presentation by President Poudel. The Nepali Congress has been pressing for the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee on the cooperative issue, leading to obstruction in the House of Representatives.
The joint meeting of the Federal Parliament is set to convene today at 3 pm, where President Paudel is scheduled to present the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year.
