Nepali Congress to Decide on Deputy Speaker Indira Rana’s Future in Parliamentary Party Meeting
The Nepali Congress has decided that its parliamentary party will determine the course of action regarding the questions raised against House of Representatives (HoR) Deputy Speaker Indira Rana. This decision was reached during a meeting of the party’s top leaders held today at party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha.
According to Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire, the party plans to take a necessary decision on the Deputy Speaker’s issue after consulting with other parties in the ruling coalition.
“The informal meeting of the party’s top leaders discussed contemporary political issues, including the matter concerning the Deputy Speaker. It was decided to convene a parliamentary party meeting and coordinate with the parties in the government to address the situation,” Ghimire stated.
During the HoR meeting on Tuesday, lawmakers from the ruling parties urged Deputy Speaker Rana to resign from her post to resolve the ongoing controversy. The Nepali Congress held today’s informal discussion to formulate the party’s stance on the issue.
