
Nepali Drama ‘Aturkal’ to be Staged in Japan


The Nepali drama ‘Aturkal’, scripted and directed by Kedar Nath Paudel, is set to be performed in Japanese cities next month.
Presented by Indreni Theatre Pokhara, the drama will be staged in Itabashi on April 12 and 13 and in Tokyo on April 14, Director Paudel confirmed.
‘Aturkal’ portrays the struggles, displacement, class conflict, war trauma, and social discrimination faced by common Nepalis, while also reflecting their dreams and aspirations. The story follows Kiran Chapagain, the lead performer, who brings to life the hardships and resilience of Nepal’s working-class people.
Previously, ‘Aturkal’ was staged at Pokhara Theatre in 2021 and at the Russian House in Kathmandu in 2023.
Paudel, a renowned playwright from Pokhara, has made a mark in both literary and theatrical circles. His other notable plays include ‘Ghero,’ ‘Dhaniramko Goru,’ ‘Bhrun,’ and ‘Bato.’
