Nepali Embassy in Bangkok Warns Citizens Against Job Scams in Southeast Asia

The Nepali Embassy in Bangkok has issued a notice urging Nepali citizens to avoid traveling to countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand under the false promise of lucrative job opportunities.
The advisory comes amid rising reports of Nepalis being lured to these countries with promises of attractive employment, only to find themselves exploited or forced into illegal activities.
Recently, a Nepali citizen who was deceived with the promise of a well-paying job in Myanmar and coerced into illegal work was rescued and repatriated to Nepal with the assistance of Thai authorities. The individual had managed to escape to Thailand before being returned home.
The Embassy has emphasized the importance of adhering to legal procedures and obtaining valid labor permits when seeking employment abroad. It has also called on citizens to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to such scams.
The Embassy’s notice serves as a warning to protect Nepali nationals from the growing trend of fraudulent job schemes in the region.
