Nepali Embassy in India Engages with Kalinga Institute Over Student Safety

The Nepali Embassy in New Delhi has urged Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, to allow Nepali students to remain in the hostel and ensure their safety following recent developments at the institute.

In a statement issued today, the embassy said it had held discussions with the registrar and representatives of KIIT, requesting them to prioritize the well-being of Nepali students and make necessary arrangements for their accommodation and academic continuity.

“As requested by the embassy, KIIT authorities have assured that Nepali students will be allowed to stay in the hostel and that regular classes will be conducted,” the statement read.

Additionally, the KIIT administration has pledged to conduct an independent and impartial investigation into the recent death of a Nepali student at the institute.

The embassy also emphasized that it is in regular contact with Nepali students, the Indian central government, Odisha’s Chief Minister’s Office, and other relevant agencies to ensure necessary support and coordination. It has advised affected students and their families to reach out in case of any concerns.
