
Nepali Embassy in London Marks 262nd Nepali Army Day


The Nepali Embassy in London organized a special program on Wednesday evening to commemorate the 262nd Nepali Army Day, with General Sir Roly Walker, Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, attending as the chief guest.
The event, held at the embassy building, witnessed the participation of around 150 guests, including Nepali Ambassador to the UK Chandra Kumar Ghimire, military attachés from friendly countries, government officials, military officers, media representatives, and members of Nepali organizations in the UK. This marked a historic moment as it was the first time a serving British Army Chief attended a program hosted by the Nepali Embassy.
Addressing the gathering, General Walker lauded the enduring relationship between the Nepali Army and the British Army, praising the dedication, loyalty, and professionalism of the Nepali Army. He expressed the British Army’s continued commitment to strengthening cooperation and assistance in the future.
Ambassador Ghimire highlighted the glorious history of the Nepali Army, emphasizing its role in safeguarding Nepal’s sovereignty and its significant contributions to global peacekeeping missions. He also acknowledged the unique bond between the two countries through the Gurkha tradition, which has spanned over two centuries.
Military Attaché Colonel Anup Shah paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Nepali Army during pivotal moments in history. The event also featured video clips showcasing the army’s contributions to both national security and international peace missions.
The program further reaffirmed the deep-rooted ties between Nepal and the United Kingdom, built on mutual respect and military cooperation.
