
Nepali Peacekeeper Injured in Attack on UN Convoy in Lebanon

Major General Chok Bahadur Dhakal, Deputy Force Commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), was injured when his convoy was attacked and vandalized near Beirut, the Nepalese Army has confirmed.
Following the incident, he was immediately evacuated and taken to a UN Level 3 Hospital in Beirut, where he is reported to be out of danger. According to the Nepalese Army, Dhakal was en route home after completing his term in the mission.
In response, UNIFIL headquarters issued a statement expressing shock over the attack on peacekeepers working to maintain security and stability in southern Lebanon. The United Nations strongly condemned the assault and called on the Lebanese government to conduct an immediate investigation and take appropriate action.
Lebanese Prime Minister and the Lebanese Armed Forces also denounced the attack, pledging to launch a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
