
Nepalis Should Not Be Recruited into Russian Army: PM Prachanda


Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ emphasized that the recruitment of Nepali citizens in the Russian army is illegal. Speaking in the Parliament, Prime Minister Prachanda underscored the necessity of obtaining a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for Nepalis traveling to Russia and urged diplomatic efforts for the repatriation of those already enlisted.
Addressing concerns raised by Members of Parliament, Prime Minister Prachanda highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and rights of Nepali citizens abroad. He emphasized ongoing communication with Russian authorities to repatriate the deceased, compensate families of victims, and secure the release of Nepali citizens held by Ukrainian forces.
Prime Minister Prachanda announced that the Russian government has agreed to provide compensation and insurance to the families of victims through the Department of Consular Services. This assistance will be facilitated by depositing the funds directly into the Nepali Embassy’s account. Furthermore, he reiterated the mandate for obtaining an NOC for Nepali citizens traveling to Russia for various purposes, including study and professional engagements.
