Nepal’s newly appointed Ambassador to Portugal, Prakash Mani Paudel, has officially presented his Letter of Credence to Portuguese President Marcelo Nuno Duarte Rebelo de Sousa.

In a formal ceremony held at the Belém Palace in Lisbon on Monday, Ambassador Paudel submitted his credentials and later paid a courtesy call on the Portuguese President.

During the meeting, discussions centered on strengthening bilateral ties and expanding mutual cooperation in trade, tourism, and diplomacy. Nepal also urged Portugal to establish an embassy in Nepal to further enhance diplomatic relations.

President Rebelo de Sousa congratulated Ambassador Paudel on his new role and wished him a successful tenure.

Accompanying the ambassador were his spouse, Rupa Paudel, and Second Secretary of the Embassy, Ram Babu Nepal. Ambassador Paudel, who was appointed in December, assumed office in Portugal on March 6.

Nepal established its embassy in Portugal in February, marking a significant step in bilateral diplomacy. The ceremony was also attended by Nuno Sampaio, Portugal’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, along with other government representatives.
