Nepal’s Diplomatic Missions Celebrate Constitution Day and National Day
Nepal’s diplomatic missions across various countries marked Constitution Day and National Day on Thursday with a series of ceremonies and receptions, honoring the country’s constitutional achievements and national pride.
In Abu Dhabi, the Nepalese Embassy paid tribute to known and unknown martyrs during a commemorative event. Attendees included Nepali diplomats, representatives of organizations, and migrant workers. Ambassador Tej Bahadur Chhetri emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure lasting peace, development, prosperity, and good governance in Nepal by institutionalizing the federal democratic republic system of governance.
In Beijing, the Embassy of Nepal raised the national flag at its premises to mark the occasion. The Embassy also hosted a reception with Zhao Lijian, Director General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Guest of Honor. Surendra Kumar Yadav, the Chargé d’affaires of Nepal’s Embassy in Beijing, highlighted the historical significance of Nepal’s Constitution, which he said reflects the people’s decades-long struggle for democracy and enshrines equality and fairness.
Similarly, in Cairo, the Nepalese Embassy in Egypt celebrated the day in the presence of Ahmed Shaheen, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia-Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand Affairs. Ambassador Sushil Kumar Lamsal described the Constitution of Nepal as a milestone in the nation’s modern history, and Assistant Minister Shaheen expressed optimism about the growing cooperation between Nepal and Egypt in trade, tourism, and education. The event also featured a cultural performance by Nepali students, and an exhibition of photographs of Pashupatinath Mandir taken by renowned Egyptian photojournalist Yasser Alaa Mobarak.
In Copenhagen, the Nepalese Embassy in Denmark hosted a reception attended by over 100 guests, including high-level officials from Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mayor of Employment and Integration of Copenhagen, ambassadors, and senior diplomats. Sabitra Oli, Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy, remarked on the democratic and inclusive nature of Nepal’s Constitution, emphasizing its role in guaranteeing fundamental rights, freedom, justice, and equality for all Nepali citizens.
These celebrations highlight the deep significance of Nepal’s Constitution Day, symbolizing the country’s journey towards democracy and progress in the global arena.
