Nepal’s FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal Honored with Indonesia’s Prestigious ‘Caraka Buwana Award’
Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and honorary consul of the Republic of Indonesia to Nepal, has received Indonesia’s distinguished ‘Caraka Buwana Award.’ Presented by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening bilateral relations with Indonesia.
In a ceremony held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the award was formally presented by Heru H. Subolo, the Ambassador of Indonesia to Nepal, on behalf of the Indonesian government. Dhakal’s role in promoting tourism, fostering cultural exchange, and enhancing economic ties between Nepal and Indonesia was highlighted during the event, which was attended by diplomats, officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and international dignitaries.
Ambassador’s Tribute to Dhakal’s Diplomatic Efforts
During the ceremony, Ambassador Subolo praised President Dhakal’s dedication, stating, “President Dhakal’s unwavering commitment has significantly strengthened our nations’ bond, fostering a collaborative spirit that benefits both countries.” Dhakal has served as Indonesia’s honorary consul since 2010, dedicating over a decade to enhancing diplomatic ties and supporting joint initiatives.
In his acceptance speech, Dhakal expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indonesian government and the attending officials, emphasizing that the award serves as an inspiration for ongoing efforts toward shared growth and prosperity. Dhakal also acknowledged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal for their support and noted the pivotal role of two recent agreements between Nepal and Indonesia: the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism and the Visa Exemption Agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders.
“These agreements,” Dhakal stated, “will strengthen diplomatic ties, facilitate official travel, and lay the foundation for enhanced economic cooperation, tourism, and regional collaboration.”
Paving the Way for Cultural and Tourism Ties
Dhakal underscored the growing interest among Nepalese tourists in visiting Indonesia, especially Bali, which has become increasingly popular among Nepalese travelers. “The rise in Nepalese tourists visiting Bali is a testament to Indonesia’s natural beauty and vibrant culture,” he remarked. He also called on Indonesia to consider introducing an on-arrival visa facility for Nepalese tourists, highlighting that such a policy could further enhance tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Honored for Contributions Beyond Diplomacy
In addition to his recent award, Dhakal was recognized by Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for his significant contributions to the 2015 earthquake rescue and relief efforts in Nepal. His ongoing contributions to Nepal-Indonesia relations reflect a strong commitment to fostering collaborative initiatives across multiple sectors.
The Caraka Buwana Award marks a major milestone in the partnership between Nepal and Indonesia, symbolizing a commitment to deepening the diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties that continue to flourish under Dhakal’s stewardship.
