Nepse Suffers Third Consecutive Day of Losses

In a challenging start to the trading week, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing streak for the third consecutive day. On Sunday, the benchmark index tumbled by 29.81 points, closing at 1,960.78 points. The market opened the day at 1,990.82 points but consistently lost value throughout the session, resulting in a 1.49% decrease.

All trading groups saw red as they closed in negative territory. The Hotels & Tourism sub-index experienced the largest decline, dropping by 3.03%. Meanwhile, the Hydropower sub-index dipped by 2.33%, and both Life Insurance and Non-life Insurance sub-indices saw losses of 2% each.

Out of all the companies listed, only eight saw their share prices advance, while a significant 212 witnessed declines, and eight remained unchanged.

In terms of turnover, Soaltee Hotels Ltd emerged as the leader with the highest turnover, reaching Rs 38.88 million. Following closely were IME Life Insurance and City Hotel Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 37.64 million and Rs 37.40 million, respectively.

A total of shares worth Rs 1.18 billion were traded on the bourse through 4,053,368 transactions on Sunday, reflecting the ongoing market challenges.
