New Swiss Ambassador Engages in Diplomacy: Key Talks with Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Foreign Secretary
Dr. Danielle Meuwly, the newly appointed Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, began her diplomatic journey with a series of courtesy calls to key figures in the Nepalese government. Her official meetings today highlighted the commitment to strengthen and deepen the bilateral cooperation between Nepal and Switzerland.
Ambassador Meuwly on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda.’ During this meeting, the two discussed various aspects of collaboration between their nations, emphasizing the importance of further enhancing their partnership.
Continuing her diplomatic engagements, Ambassador Meuwly also met with Foreign Minister NP Saud at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). This discussion focused on Nepal-Switzerland relations, touching upon a range of topics, including economic cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.
In addition to her meetings with high-ranking government officials, Ambassador Meuwly held separate courtesy meetings with Bharat Raj Paudyal, the Foreign Secretary of Nepal.
Ambassador Meuwly’s extensive background in economics and international affairs, along with her diplomatic experience in prominent organizations like the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, and the United Nations, positions her well to contribute significantly to the ongoing development cooperation between Switzerland and Nepal. She expressed her intent to further cooperation in the economic sector and facilitate cultural exchanges, emphasizing the rich cultural heritage shared by both nations.
The visit of Ambassador Meuwly signals Switzerland’s commitment to bolstering diplomatic relations and cooperation with Nepal, with a focus on fostering people-to-people connections and showcasing the cultural richness both countries have to offer. Ambassador Meuwly holds a doctorate in economics and a degree in advanced European studies with extensive career in diplomacy and international affairs at Swiss Foreign Ministry, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank and the United Nations.
