Newly Appointed PM Oli Assumes Office

KP Sharma Oli, newly appointed Prime Minister, officially assumed office after taking the oath before President Ramchandra Paudel at the Office of the President. Following the ceremony, PM Oli paid homage to martyrs at Lainchaur and visited the CPN (UML)’s party headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur.

At Chyasal, PM Oli laid wreaths at the portraits of Nepal Communist Party’s founding leader Pushpa Lal Shrestha, former Chair Man Mohan Adhikari, and former General Secretary Madan Bhandari. He then proceeded to Singha Durbar to officially take charge at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Accompanied by Officiating Chief Secretary Leeladevi Gadtaula, secretaries, and senior government officials, PM Oli was welcomed to his new role. His Secretariat announced that decisions taken on his first day in office would be revealed shortly.

President Paudel appointed CPN (UML) Chair Oli as Prime Minister on July 14 under Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal, with support from the Nepali Congress, the largest party in parliament.
