NHRC Urges Full Cooperation in Probe of Tinkune Incident

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has called on all concerned parties to extend their support for an impartial investigation into the recent violence at Tinkune during demonstrations held by supporters of the former king.

A team led by NHRC member Manoj Duwadi met with Nabaraj Subedi, coordinator of the protest committee, who is reportedly under house arrest. According to the NHRC, Subedi is being kept under police surveillance at his residence without an official warrant.

NHRC spokesperson Dr. Tikaram Pokhrel said the commission has also gathered updates on individuals currently held in police custody and visited hospitals to check on those injured during the incident.

Expressing concern over the loss of life and damage to property, the NHRC stated that it is taking allegations of human rights violations seriously. The commission has also received additional complaints and memorandums related to the incident, Pokhrel added.
