No-Confidence Motion Against Indian Prime Minister Modi Fails in Lok Sabha

In the Indian political landscape, a no-confidence motion targeted at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been unsuccessful in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the nation’s parliament. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla officially confirmed that the opposition’s attempt to bring down the central government through the no-confidence motion has fallen short, as reported by BBC Hindi.

Throughout the course of three days, members of both the ruling party and opposition presented their perspectives on the no-confidence motion within the Lok Sabha. After Prime Minister Modi delivered his response, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha declared the motion’s failure through a voice vote during the proceedings.

The opposition’s rationale for filing the no-confidence motion rested on their belief that the Modi-led government had not adequately assumed a parental role in addressing the recent unrest in Manipur. They also argued that a sense of autocracy had taken root within the country.

This is not the first time such a motion has been brought against the Narendra Modi government. Back in 2018, the opposition initiated a no-confidence motion as well. Following an extensive 11-hour discussion within the House, the Modi government managed to secure its majority, solidifying its position despite the challenge.
