No Dasain Tika for PM Prachanda’s Family This Year
Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahaln ‘Prachanda’ will not partake in the traditional Dasain Tika program this year, along with his family.
The somber decision comes in the wake of a heartbreaking loss for the Prime Minister’s family. His wife, Sita Dahal, who also served as an adviser to the Maoist Center, passed away on July 12. As a result, the Prime Minister’s family is observing a period of mourning during the festive season.
Prime Minister Prachanda’s press coordinator, Surya Kiran Sharma, stated, “This year, there are no special programs planned. Instead, the focus will be on regular meetings and personal reflection as the family continues to grieve their loss.”
Dasain, the most significant Hindu festival in Nepal, is a time for family reunions and blessings, usually marked by the ceremonial application of tika (a mixture of yogurt, rice, and vermillion) on the foreheads of family members. However, the Prime Minister’s family’s decision to forgo these celebrations this year underscores the depth of their mourning and respect for their departed loved one.
