‘No Pressure, We’ll Rebound in Next Three Games,’ Says Sompal Kami

Nepal faced a disappointing start in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Texas, USA, succumbing to a six-wicket defeat against the Netherlands. Despite the setback, fast bowler Sompal Kami remains resolute, emphasizing that Nepal should not be disheartened by this loss.

Reflecting on the match, Sompal acknowledged the challenges but remained confident in the team’s abilities. “We are not under pressure from this defeat. The pressure was during the World Cup qualifiers only, not now. We are here to prove ourselves,” he stated.

Expressing gratitude towards the fans who came out to support the team, Sompal highlighted their unwavering dedication. “I am thankful that they came to support us after leaving all their work and problems. We couldn’t give them happiness today, but we had given 100%,” he said.

Looking ahead, Sompal exuded optimism about Nepal’s upcoming fixtures. “We tried to score good in the powerplay and make our odds heavier. We couldn’t do it. But I hope we will come back in the next three games,” he remarked confidently.

With matches against Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh lined up, Sompal assured fans of the team’s determination to secure victories. “We’re going to be even happier after beating a big team. There’s no pressure. As long as the Nepalese fans come to support the team, we’re happy to see so many people from Nepal coming out to support us. We’re more motivated than the pressure,” he affirmed.

Nepal’s next challenge awaits them against Sri Lanka on June 11, followed by clashes with South Africa and Bangladesh as they strive to make their mark in the tournament.
