NTB CEO Invites Global Participation in Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025

Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Deepak Raj Joshi, has officially extended an invitation to the global community to take part in Sagarmatha Sambaad 2025, scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18.
Organized by the Government of Nepal, Sagarmatha Sambaad is a high-level multi-stakeholder forum designed to foster dialogue on pressing global, regional, and national issues. This year’s theme is “Climate Change, Mountains and the Future of Humanity.” The event aims to unite individuals and institutions with influence and interest in shaping positive global discourse.
CEO Joshi extended the invitation during the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Conference held in Istanbul, Turkey from April 21 to 23. At the event, the NTB and PATA also signed a partnership agreement focusing on drafting a Tourism White Paper, forming a joint forum, and launching collaborative programs to strengthen Nepal’s tourism sector.
In his address on “Building a Sustainable Future,” Joshi highlighted Nepal’s achievements in eco-tourism, community-based tourism models, and sustainable tourism practices. He emphasized Nepal’s unique natural, cultural, and social diversity as a foundation for future tourism development.
Joshi also made a special appeal to the global tourism industry and international buyers to participate in the Himalayan Travel Mart 2025, set for June 3 to 5 in Kathmandu. The mart aims to showcase Nepal’s tourism assets and expand its global cooperation network.
On the sidelines of the PATA conference, Joshi met with Dr. Randy Dubrand, CEO of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as destination certification, research, capacity building, and NTB membership.
The NTB delegation also held discussions with tourism analysts, AI specialists, statisticians, and environmentalists on strategies to revitalize Nepal’s tourism sector sustainably and position the country as a secure global destination.
