
Odisha CM Assures Justice in KIIT Student’s Death, Urges Nepali Students to Resume Studies

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured Nepali officials that justice will be served in the case of Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student at KIIT University who was found dead under mysterious circumstances. The assurance came during a conversation with Nepali Counsellors Sanjeeb Das Sharma and Navin Raj Adhikari, where he also promised that peace and normalcy would be restored on the university campus.
The Chief Minister urged Nepali students to return to KIIT and continue their studies, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to ensuring their safety and well-being.
A high-level discussion was held at the State Guest House in Bhubaneswar with officials from Nepal to address concerns regarding the situation. The meeting was attended by Odisha Ministers Mukesh Mahaling and Suryabanshi Suraj, along with Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja. The discussions focused on restoring stability on campus and addressing the concerns of the Nepali student community.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, also engaged in talks with Odisha Minister Suryabanshi Suraj over the phone, highlighting Nepal’s concerns regarding the incident.
The Odisha government has reiterated its commitment to a thorough investigation and the safety of all students, aiming to bring swift resolution and justice in the case.
