Oli Begins Getting Closer to Madhav Nepal, Hints at Party Unity

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has begun making efforts toward party unity with the Unified Socialists.

Simultaneously, he has been fostering a closer relationship with Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist Party. Their previously strained relationship has started to improve with the formation of a new alliance in the country.

On Saturday, Oli met with Nepal and urged him to unite as one. According to sources, Oli emphasized the significant impact of party division and encouraged Nepal to move towards unity.

Chairman Nepal’s Secretariat confirmed the meeting between the two leaders but claimed ignorance regarding its details. Sources indicate that Oli and Nepal discussed strategies for future collaboration.

Previously, following the formation of the new alliance, Oli and Prime Minister Prachanda visited Nepal’s residence. Initially hesitant to join the new alliance, Nepal has now become part of the government.

According to UML leaders, Chairman Oli has taken the lead in initiating unity talks with the Unified Socialists. They believe that if Nepal is willing, a conducive environment for unity can be established within a few days.

Nepal is currently under pressure as prominent central-level leaders from his party are defecting to the UML, with figures like Jhalnath Khanal advocating for a merger. CPN-UML stands to become the largest party if it unites with the Unified Socialists.
