Over 6,000 Police Personnel to Be Deployed in Madhes for Festive Security
In a bid to ensure a safe and secure environment during the upcoming Dashain, Deepawali (Tihar), and Chhath festivals, more than 6,000 police personnel will be deployed across the Madhes Province. The Madhes Province Police Office in Janakpurdham has developed a comprehensive security plan to address potential threats and maintain public order throughout the festive season.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Leelamani Acharya, Chief of the Madhes Police Office, highlighted that security efforts have been heightened to prevent incidents such as theft, traffic congestion, black marketing, gambling, pickpocketing, and overcrowding in temples. Additionally, safety measures will be enforced during the immersion of goddess idols following the festivals.
The security plan also outlines strategies to tackle challenges such as scuffles during fairs and cultural events, theft at government offices and banks, traffic safety, and drug trafficking and abuse. These security operations began on October 1 and will continue until November 10, covering the Chhath festival as well.
To strengthen security, an additional 1,400 police personnel have been deployed across all eight districts of Madhes Province, supplementing the existing force. The police are committed to maintaining a peaceful and enjoyable festival season for the residents of Madhes.
