Over Rs 460 Million Lost to Fires in Madhesh Province
In the last 10 months, fire incidents across Madhesh Province have resulted in property damages exceeding Rs 460 million, as reported by the Madhesh Province Police Office. The data highlights that all eight districts in the province experienced significant losses due to fires.
Dhanusha district faced the highest damage, with properties worth over Rs 80 million affected, followed by Siraha and Saptari, each with Rs 80 million and Rs 50 million in losses respectively. Other districts such as Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa also reported considerable damages ranging from Rs 40 million to Rs 50 million.
Siraha district recorded the highest number of fire incidents with 216 cases, whereas Sarlahi had the fewest with 106 incidents. Authorities attribute the frequent fires to a combination of prolonged dry weather, human negligence, and technical malfunctions.
Efforts are ongoing to address the root causes of these incidents and to improve fire safety measures across the province.
