Parliamentarians of eight-party alliance to get orientation today

An orientation session relating to the presidential election will be organised today for the members of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly associated with the recently formed eight-party alliance.

Coordinated and managed by one of the coalition partners, Nepali Congress, the session will take place at Royal Banquet at Tinkune, Kathmandu, at 1 pm, said the NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel.

Parliamentarians belonging to the eight-party coalition (NC, CPN (Maoist Centre), Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Janamat Party, Rastriya Janamorcha and Nagarik Unmukti) will take the session, he said.

Top leaders of the alliance are scheduled to address the session, and urge the parliamentarians to vote and make NC’s leader Ram Chandra Paudel, a common candidate for the new president from the coalition, victorious.

Supported by the eight-party alliance, Paudel has fielded his candidacy for the coveted position. Similarly, the CPN (UML) has fielded party Vice Chairperson Subash Chandra Nembang for the position. The presidential election is taking place on March 9.
