Passenger Bus Plunges into Trishuli River, Claiming 8 Lives
A bus carrying passengers met a tragic fate as it veered off the road and plunged into the Trishuli River. The accident occurred near Chhahara, situated between Gajuri and Malekhu in Dhading, Nepal. The bus, with registration number 3-01-005 B 9952, was en route from Kathmandu to Pokhara when the unfortunate incident unfolded at approximately 11:15 am on Wednesday morning.
The catastrophe resulted in the loss of 8 lives, all of whom tragically perished at the scene of the accident. The victims’ bodies have been recovered, adding a somber tone to the already devastating event. Furthermore, 17 individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Immediate efforts by local authorities, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and the local community, including divers, led to the successful rescue of the injured passengers.
Among the injured, 13 individuals have been referred to Kathmandu for advanced medical treatment, while 4 others are currently receiving care at Malekhu Hospital. The injured survivors are battling to recover from the physical and emotional trauma of the accident.
The gravity of the situation prompted a swift response from law enforcement agencies. A total of 81 armed police personnel, including skilled divers, were mobilized to spearhead the search and rescue operations. This collaborative effort involved representatives from the Armed Police Force, Nepal Army, and Nepal Police, showcasing the community’s unity during times of crisis.
