A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (SC) against the Patan High Court’s order to release Sandeep Lamichhane, the former captain of the Nepali National Cricket Team, on bail.
The office of the Attorney General (OAG) has filed a petition at the Supreme Court demanding the arrest of Sandeep, saying that he was released on bail without proper reason.
A division bench of Judges Dhrubaraj Nanda and Ramesh Dhakal of Patan High Court annulled the decision of the Kathmandu District Court to keep Lamichhane in detention pending trial, and decided to release Lamichhane on Rs 2 million bail on January 12.
Sandeep was released on January 13 after he furnished the bail amount.
