PM Dahal Granted Clean Chit in Defamation Case

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been granted a clean chit in a long-standing defamation case that was filed against him seven years ago. The case, initiated by senior advocate Dinesh Triphati in Jestha 2073, alleged that Prime Minister Dahal had defamed the court with his statements.
The joint bench composed of Justice Ishwar Katiwada and Kumar Regmi presided over the hearing and delivered the verdict, clearing Prime Minister Dahal of the defamation charges. The case stemmed from an incident during a party event in the past when PM Dahal accused the court of acting against the peace agreement. This statement came in the aftermath of the arrest of then Maoist leaders Bal Krishna Dungel and Chabilal Adhikari.
The court’s decision to grant a clean chit to Prime Minister Dahal marks the conclusion of a legal battle that spanned several years. The ruling has implications for the political landscape and is likely to impact the perception of the Prime Minister’s relationship with the judiciary.
